I purposely waited until I had more information and facts concerning the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. While there are still more questions that need to be answered, the following is true and cannot be disputed.
There was a colossal security failure. Planning for the event was dismal, almost like it was carried out by people without any security background whatsoever. Poor decision making by the Secret Service is absolutely evident. While there is still discussion about who had responsibility for the building the shooter gained access to, what is clear is that the building should have been secured. The fact that Kimberly Cheatle offered up the sloped roof, as a safety factor, precluding an agent from being up there is laughable. The shooter, as untrained as he appears to have been, made it up there. I’m certain our highly trained agents would not have had a problem. I’m certain the agents on the ground are disgusted and embarrassed by her comment. This is another example of the Administration not putting the best people possible in critical positions. Remember Sam Benton? Although Kimberly Cheatle has resigned, she must be held accountable. The next Director must be the best qualified for the job. The brave men and women of the Secret Service deserve to have capable, engaged leadership.
Enough on the security lapse. In the aftermath of the assassination attempt many people are speaking out to try and lessen the severity of the incident. Some “journalists” have claimed Trump was not shot at all but, was hit by a piece of glass from a teleprompter. This narrative has been proven utterly false. Both teleprompters can be clearly seen intact on video before, during, and after the attack. The politicians, journalists and Hollywood talking heads spewing this false information are reprehensible. They knew what they were saying was false. If it was an honest mistake, they would’ve come out with an apology by now. One more thought about the glass theory. If it had been glass, would that make the attempt to end President Trump’s life, okay? Would it have made the situation less dangerous? Of course not but, in their small minds, it would somehow lessen the severity of situation. It’s journalism at its worse.
Another bit of media hype and irrelevance, the clamor around the firearm. Once again, calls for an AR-15 ban. Would they feel better if it was another firearm? Thank God it was an AR-15 and not a real sniper rifle in the hands of a good marksman. The fault for this shooting and all violence is NOT the weapon. It’s the perpetrator. The shooter, like all others before him, was evil… plain and simple.
Some are actually blaming Trump. Yes, he made comments about protesting. Those comments included the words “peacefully” and “patriotically”. If those comments caused the January 6th protest and are somehow responsible for the attempt on his life, shouldn’t Joe Biden then be held accountable for his “It’s time to put a bullseye” comment? What about NY Democratic Representative Dan Goldman saying Trump should be “eliminated”? Or Biden-Harris HQ account “Trump parrots Hitler”? Then there are Biden staffers who called Trump “Hitler Pig.” We also have Hillary Clinton saying a 2024 Trump victory “would be the end of our Country as we know it.” Representatives James Clyburn (D-SC), Jerry Nadler (D-NY), Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) have all compared Trump to Hitler. AOC claiming he set up concentration camps at the border. We also have Nancy Pelosi, she threatened to “punch him out.” All of these threats and comparisons according to Democrats had nothing to do with the assassination attempt. However, Trump’s comment caused Jan 6th and the assassination attempt. Most of the media and Hollywood agrees. Well, I’m here to tell you they’re all wrong.
The real tragedy is there are three families whose worlds have been shattered. One American was killed and two others seriously injured. So while Kimberly Cheatle continues to evade many questions and many of our politicians look to blame everyone and everything other than the real cause of this tragedy: an evil little man and lax security; I hope the families involved can somehow find the strength to move forward in life. Corey Comperatore, may you Rest in Peace. James Copenhaver and David Dutch, may you both make a full recovery and return to your families.
This is a time where the Nation should be coming together. The fearmongering must stop and we can stop it. That’s right… we can stop it but, it’s going to take some effort and action on our part. Rise above the petty schoolyard name calling. I’ve got to tell you, if my daughter reacted like many of our elected officials when she was younger, she’d have been grounded! Now, we can’t ground our elected officials but we can fire them in November! I ask each of you to listen to those running for office. If they are spewing the same old rhetoric and there is no substance to their position…don’t vote for them. Let’s focus on the issues and on solving problems. We in NH, and in District 9 in particular, can start to close the divide and work to keep New Hampshire the greatest State in the Nation! I look forward to hearing from you. Send me to Concord and together we’ll keep New Hampshire…New Hampshire!
