Dorchester Old Home Day

Residents of Canaan, Dorchester & Orange,

I spent Saturday at the Dorchester Old Home Day...what a great event!  The people there were fantastic, everyone seemed to feel welcome.  I know I did.  I especially want to thank the folks who took the time to chat with me (I can't think of anyone who didn't).  I was impressed by the close-knit community aura.  It's everything a small town should be.  It's the kind of place people want to live & raise their families. That's what I love about this area.  It's what I want to preserve.  I also learned some of the challenges Dorchester is facing.  Taxes are hurting people; they're pricing people out of the town.  More than 1 person told me they've set a "red" line so to speak.  Once taxes reach it, they're going to have to move.  That is not only heart breaking, but it's wrong.  We simply cannot allow it to happen.

There were other concerns: community safety, ambulance service, schools, inflation were most commonly mentioned.  These issues seem daunting, almost insurmountable.  However, they are not insurmountable.  I've been a part of many situations seemingly unsolvable while serving in the US Air Force for 30 years.  I'm here to tell you...there is a way to solve every problem.  The answer always takes a few things: Hard Work, a Positive Attitude & a Willingness to Work Together!  We are Americans; we're citizens of New Hampshire, the State with the most Freedom in the Country; and we live in a 3-town community that could, should & will be the envy of the State!

Do I have all the answers, no.  Am I willing to work hard to solve these problems...absolutely.  Join my team, together we will overcome the current issues facing us and set the foundation for safe, common-sense progress for the future.

Together We Win,

Kevin M. Howard, Candidate

State Representative, District 9
